Retirement Visa in Thailand
If you are older than 50 years of age then you can apply for a retirement visa in Thailand and retire and make Thailand your home away from home.
If you are older than 50 then consider retirement in Thailand. When you apply at the Thai Embassy you only need to show that you are over the age of 50 when making the application. The visa is called the O-A Visa and is valid for 3 months only. When you arrive in Thailand you need to extend this visa for 1 year. You need to show certain documents and meet certain requirements for the retirement visa in Thailand. Speak to a good lawyer about these as certain conditions may be overlooked. You need the following:
- You need to be older than 50 years when applying for the visa
- You need to show 800,000 Baht in a Thai Bank or income of 60,000 Baht a month
- You need to show that you are medically fit
- You also need to show that you do not have a criminal record
When you apply for a retirement visa in Thailand you would need to speak to an immigration lawyer in Thailand with regards to a DUI. In some instances Thai Immigration has over looked drunk and driving as a criminal offense. Again, take legal advice on this issue. Medically fit means that you do not have any transmittable diseases such as HIV/AIDS or late stage advanced syphilis. As for income you can have a combination of money in the bank and monthly income. Again you need to calculate this before you apply.
